E-RYT500, BS Dietetics, YACEP,
Brooke began her yogic journey in the beginning of 2009 and immediately fell in love with the lifestyle. After just three short months of maintaining a daily yoga practice and experiencing all the benefits yoga has to offer both physically and mentally, she was approached by the studio owner who advised her to become certified and teach. Coming from an athletic background and on the verge of becoming a personal trainer, Brooke decided to leave the gym behind. Under the guidance of the renowned Hilaire Lockwood at Hilltop Yoga in Lansing, Brooke completed her 200-hour all-level power teacher training immediately followed by an additional 100-hours of all hands-on training. Brooke now felt very prepared to share the gift of yoga with everyone around her. She moved to Tempe, Arizona and received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition while continuing to teach Yin, Slow Flow, Power and Ashtanga Yoga. She believes in a balanced, holistic lifestyle consisting of mental clarity through Yoga and healthy eating.
With years of travel and teaching under her belt along the west coast of the US, Brooke moved back to her hometown of St. Joseph, MI and completed her 500-hour advanced teacher training. After teaching around St. Joseph in gyms and on beaches for two years, she decided the town needed somewhere people can come together and practice in a beautiful space dedicated to the Yoga tradition and a holistic approach to health and wellness; a place where community can grow and nurture its students by supporting and encouraging each other. Through this approach, Yoga Life was born.
At Yoga Life, Brooke teaches safe and alignment-based, Ashtanga-inspired, eclectic flows, linking breath to movement. Each class is unique and geared toward the energy level of everyone present and their needs for the day. She loves incorporating yogic philosophy into her classes and holds strong interest in the chakras, or energy centers, in the body. In addition to teaching Yoga, she also offers nutritional consultation and healthy lifestyle coaching for many of her students privately or through workshops and series classes. Brooke believes we are constantly given opportunities to learn. She stays a student of Yoga and life so she can flourish as a teacher. Since completing her advanced training she continues to take Yin, Ashtanga, Power, and various other trainings and workshops.
Cordelia McClintock RYT200, Studio Manager, Instructor
Cordelia's love of yoga started as a physical practice 5 years ago. She began working at a studio in Fort Wayne, Indiana and helping at their front desk. She did her teacher training program in 2014 and started teaching in August of 2015. Her 200 hour training is Baptiste Inspired and follows the "Journey into Power" sequence created by Baron Baptiste. In the last year, Cordelia has led two Baptiste Inspired Programs and assisted a 200hr Teacher Training. She believes the work of a teacher is never complete and continues to attend workshops and trainings to deepen her knowledge.
Through practicing and teaching, yoga has helped Cordelia discover what it is that she is truly passionate about, people. She loves being a part of community and creating community. She loves the personal growth and inquiry that comes through the physical practice of yoga. She and her husband recently moved to Southwest Michigan and being near the water reminds her of the importance of flow. There is less struggle through flow both in yoga practice and life. Cordelia is thrilled to be a part of the Yoga Life community!
Mary Alice Johnson RYT200, Instructor
After subbing a yoga class at the YMCA several years ago, Mary instantly realized what was missing from her fitness career at the time- a deeper understanding of the mind, body and spirit, which Yoga readily offered. Shortly after, Mary received her Yoga Fundamentals 1 & 2 Certification in Hatha Yoga under the training of Lawrence Biscontini, MA through SCW Fitness. She then went on to train at Hilltop Yoga in Lansing, MI and receive her 200 hour certification as an all-level power/vinyasa teacher. Her passion has always been in the area of health & fitness.
Mary loves the physical side of yoga that brings out the strength we all have within, but more importantly, she loves the yoga community. Her connection with community and the support that is offered, has truly taken her down the path of inner peace & happiness. When on her mat, she spends a great deal of time incorporating different styles of yoga into her personal practice as well as into her classes.
Her hope is to reach out to everyone who is looking for a place to fit in and enjoy their practice, both on and off the mat. Namaste!
Nicole Bates RYT200, Instructor
Nicole fell in love with Yoga two summers ago while in Montana studying at Rocky Mountain School of Photography. Practicing became a space where she could unwind and refocus. After returning to Saint Joe, a friend encouraged Nicole to be a part of a teacher training to learn what Yoga was all about. She then went on to complete a 200-hour all-level Power/Vinyasa teacher training with Brooke Vladic at Yoga Life.
Nicole has been amazed by the love the yoga community has shown her and cannot wait to share that same love with them, Namaste.
Michelle Lihou RYT200, Instructor
I am a lover of yoga and felt connected from my very first hot Bikram class in 2003, while attending college at Arizona State University. I loved the mental and physical way yoga challenged and balanced me. I have been trying to get on my mat practicing as much as possible ever since. Competitively dancing for over 20 years, I was instantly drawn to the sweet flow of vinyasa and power yoga and knew I wanted to study more about this. It wasn’t until I moved From Tempe to Denver that I finally decided to enroll in a 200 hour teacher training program. Working as an elementary school teacher, I completed my 200 hour Power/Vinyasa certification at the original Core Power Yoga, studying under Lisa Richards. From there I started teaching yoga to anyone who would listen. My first classes were to my friends, the staff at my elementary school, and my fifth grade students.
In 2012, my husband and I moved from Denver to Stevensville and had my daughter a few weeks later. Choosing to stay home and raise my daughter provided the perfect opportunity to start teaching and studying more yoga. In 2013, I combined my passion for teaching kids and yoga and completed my Rainbow Kids Yoga Certification in Chicago. From there, I was soon introduced to Yin Yoga. I craved how this slow passive practice challenged my fiery energetic personality. This led me to complete a Yin Yoga training at Yoga Life. In October, 2015 I had my son and absolutely loved practicing yoga throughout my pregnancy. I am currently in the process of completing my pre and postnatal yoga certification with Bliss Baby Yoga. When I am not on my mat, I love spending time with family, enjoying the beaches of Southwest Michigan, listening to music and cooking. I hope to see you on your mat soon.

Jon Shoemaker RYT 200, Instructor
Jon began his journey into Yoga almost 7 years ago with his mother, who is an instructor. Over these years, Jon has practiced many different styles of yoga ranging from Restorative and Yin to Power Vinyasa and Ashtanga. It was during college that he figured out he wanted to share Yoga with others and become a teacher because of how much he loved the practice. Jon feels his yoga practice “makes everything feel a bit more whole”. As fate would have it, Jon found an RYT-200 Power/Vinyasa Teacher Training program at Yoga Life and jumped at the opportunity to finally become a yoga teacher. Through his training with Brooke, he delved deeper into yoga asana and yoga philosophy. Exploring all the limbs of Yoga helped deepen his practice and that is what allows him to share what he has learned with the community.
Off the mat, Jon is an Engineer for a Marketing Company. He enjoys time outside hiking, camping and being more in touch with nature. Jon looks forward to meeting all of you and sharing the gift of Yoga!
Nancy Belisle RYT 200, Instructor
Nancy's parents put her on skis at age 2 and she's been racing to every finish line since. In 2005 she needed a diversion from high intensity fitness, both practiced and taught, and was pleasantly surprised by the difference that Yoga made in her life. She was hooked. Nancy trained with Lawrence Biscontini and has taught yoga since 2011, but always had it on her bucket list to earn her 200hr RYT. That goal was attained in November 2016 at Yoga Life and that original taste of yoga in '05 turned into life altering learning in '16. The depth of knowledge gained in yoga theory, history and alignment was only surpassed by self inquiry, reflection, challenge and confidence. Nancy is honored to be part of the Yoga Life community as both a student and teacher. She loves to share her passion on the importance of taking care of our minds and bodies in a variety of ways. Nancy has been a personal trainer for 22 years and also teaches sculpt, boot camp and yoga fusion. Nancy and her husband, Rich, made move #11 to Southwest Michigan in 2011. They have two grown children and a brand new grand baby boy!
Lisa Kiser RYT 200, Instructor, RN, BSN, CWOCN
Lisa first found yoga in the fall of 2015 in a banquet hall of a local restaurant where an impromptu class for a small group of friends was held. Already active in cardio fitness, Lisa was skeptical when the class began with legs up the wall and a talk of feeling the energy in the room. However, by the end of a very satisfying physical practice and moving into savasana, or corpse pose, the teacher’s soft words of letting go of what you cannot control and embracing love and kindness toward ones self, filled Lisa with a sense of peace she had not felt for a few years. She was hooked and knew she had to keep that feeling going. Lisa followed that same teacher, Joanne Yates, around the community where she held various classes and eventually, this lead her to Yoga Life Studio
The positivity of Yoga Life Studio only deepened Lisa’s desire for yoga. With Brooke Vladic’s encouragement, Lisa entered the teacher training program. Training under Brooke was a transforming experience in Lisa’a life. Not only expanding her love and understanding of yoga, but also her love and understanding for herself and those around her. In November 2016 Lisa completed her 200-hour training at Yoga Life. Lisa eagerly practices yoga, in some form, every day.
When Lisa is not on her yoga mat she works for Lakeland Homecare where she is employed as a Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse. She is also a single mother of two amazing teenage boys. Lisa enjoys hiking, skiing, and beach time as well as reading, listening to her record collection and hanging out with her friends, her boys, and their dogs.
Kelly Arellano RYT 200, Instructor
My yoga practice began almost ten years ago when I herniated a disc in my lower back. After months of pain and anti-inflammatory medication, I stared practicing at a Bikram studio in Chicago to build my strength. To this day, the lessons from my back injury and the compassion I found for my body, still resonate in every class I teach. My background and training stems directly from the founder of Power Yoga, Brian Kest, and all of his amazing teachers at Santa Monica Power Yoga. Rudy Mettia was my mentor who focuses on precise alignment, while keeping the practice light hearted and loving. I believe that yoga is a practice that can and should be all-inclusive. If you’re alive you can breathe. And if you can breathe, you can do yoga. Namaste!
