Nuad Boran (as it is called in Thailand) is best described as a peaceful "dance" of healing movement, stretching, energy manipulation and pressure. The stretching movement, breathing and meditative quality is reminiscent of a passive yoga session, but there's nothing passive about the way you feel after giving or receiving Thai bodywork - "amazing," "revitalized" and "totally renewed" are comments typically heard after a session.
This three-hour workshop will introduce you to the basics of Thai Bodywork. Bring your partner or friend (or come alone, we'll pair you up!) and get abasic introduction to the practice of Thai bodywork. During this workshop we'll discuss a short history of Thai massage, learn an overview of Sen, or energy lines, and talk about safe methods of using your hands, feet and other body parts before getting to the good stuff!
Gain confidence using a wide variety of partner stretching and massage techniques
Learn a simple and effective Thai “routine” to practice on your family and friends
Learn about the history, culture, and spirit of Thai bodywork
Practice meditative breathing techniques and visualization exercises to calm and prepare your mind.
Before you arrive: dress comfortably in yoga or exercise clothes, and wear layers. Bring a small pillow and pillowcase (one for every two people) and a sturdy blanket (wool or woven cotton are best). A journal or notebook and a pen are useful for taking notes. Camera/phones are welcome to capture images from the sequence for future reference!
